Q: What happens after I have selected my yacht, destination and dates?
A:
The next stage is for you to send a deposit of 50% of the yacht charter rate to us. We will
then send an email confirming that his has been paid and that the yacht is secured for
you. A contract would also be sent out for signature that would then need to be
returned to us. Approximately one month prior to the yacht charter commencing, we
will send you an email requesting the 50% remaining balance of the yacht charter rate.
On receipt of the balance, further details of the charter, arrival details and itinerary
options will be sent out together with a preference sheet where any items can be
detailed that may be required on the charter. There may be deposits to pay locally
regarding bareboat charters.
Q: What is included in the yacht charter rate
?
A: The yacht charter rate includes the yacht in working order, the yacht's
insurance for marine risk (if crewed charter there are other additions), the crew wages
and normally crew food (if crewed charter). The Charterer will be charged extra, at cost
to the yacht, for all other expenses. These include fuel for the yacht, fuel for the tenders,
food for the charterers, wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks for the Charterers, other
consumable stores, berthing dues and other harbour charges away from the yacht's own
berth, including pilotage fees, national park fees and charges for water and/or
electricity taken from the shore, laundry, telephone, fax and internet connections and
any hire/purchase costs of special equipment placed on board at the request of the
Charterer. VAT is normally payable on charters. Some charter rates in the East
Mediterranean and Caribbean include some other items. Please enquire if
relevant.
Q: How do I get to the location of the yacht?
A: As we are
a brokerage, rather than a travel agent, we are unable to book flights. We wouold be
happy to advise you of airlines that fly to the closest airport and normally at local level,
airport transfers will be arranged if requested. The flights and transfers are not included in
the charter rate.
Q: If I charter a yacht with a crew, may I speak with the
Captain prior to the charter with regard to any special requirements?
A: You
are more than welcome to communicate directly with the Captain prior to the charter,
however we are here to help you and will try to attend to any your requirements,
avoiding any extra work for you. We do find that the Captain's ability to help plan
itineraries is second to none as they often have very local knowledge of the charter
cruising area.
Q: What happens if I need to cancel the charter?
A:
There is a sliding scale, depending on the yacht chosen, where an amount of the charter
rate will be returned prior to the charter. As a rule, if cancellation occurs less than one
month prior to the charter start date, then there will be no return of any funds. However,
we will do endeavour to re-charter the yacht and return money where possible. Charter
cancellation insurance can be taken out in some cases. Please enquire if you have any
further questions.
Q: If I have a query at any time who should I call?
A:
At any point during the lead up to the commencement of the charter we would be
delighted to answer any questions regarding the charter, the yacht or the destination.
