The Caribbean
The Caribbean has traditionally been the European retreat from the cold winter months. Most of the islands were occupied by colonial powers, many until relatively recently. Despite this the islands have their own unique culture, with life running at a very slow pace and the staple industry being tourism. Some are mountainous, covered in rainforest, others rolling hills with small holding agriculture. There are four principal areas for yacht charter, though they all link together in a long chain, The Virgin Islands to the north, St Martin, Anguilla and St Barts below this, Antigua and Barbuda next, then St Vincent and the Grenadines and to the south Trinidad and Tobago. Barbados is rarely considered due to its relative isolation from the other islands. By far the most popular for yacht racing is Antigua Race Week in the spring, though many of the other islands hold their own regattas. There are good facilities for all types of yacht in most of the islands including excellent restaurants, bars and hotels. Given the tropical climate, diving and snorkelling are very popular and the beaches must also be mentioned with Anigua claiming to have one for each day of the year.

SE Asia and beyond
Chartering a yacht in Thailand and Malaysia offer a fascinating insight into the Far East in all it's physical and cultural beauty. With warm tropical water, snorkelling and diving are a must together with dining ashore on local delicacies enriched with local spices. Further afield, Australia has the fabulous Sydney Harbour in the south and the Whitsundays Islands in the tropical north, the gateway to the Barrier Reef. For the more adventuous, Fiji, Tonga and Tahiti are all gorgeous cruising grounds and superb yacht charter destinations.
